Preetiya Manashantiya (recording)

I recorded my voice for this Kannada song by Raghu Dixit while I was experimenting with my new MXL condenser microphone. I have used compressor, EQ and limiter for the final mix. The Making of Laya

The Idea Ideas for musical scores, songs or themes come to me randomly. Sometimes, I get inspired by a situation or works from other artists. The idea for this composition ( read full article and listen to the composition here ) came as a ‘need’ to compose a fusion track. I am still in the process of discovering my sound and experimenting is the only way to achieve it. Hence it makes perfect sense, at this point of time, to experiment with every genre of music under the sun! So fusion it is… this time! Every composition has a ‘hook’ that grabs the listeners’ attention. "A hook is a musical idea, often a short riff, passage, or phrase that is used in popular music to make a song appealing and to "catch the ear of the listener" - Wikipedia. In this composition, strangely though, I see two hooks (in my head). The first hook ‘came’ to me when I was experimenting with the samples in my new “Sounds of India” audio sample CD I recently bought. I was playing some tunes on India...

Laya

The idea behind this track was to create fusion music using Indian classical and western string instruments. I have used Saraswati veena, sitar and electric guitar in this track. The meaning of 'Laya' is 'fusion' or 'merging' in Sanskrit and rhythm in Indian classical music. Karma Rules

I've pondered on how it works When I connect the dots Clues I've been searching for Spoke about my past, after all I followed my footsteps Back to a million moons I saw my shadow there Holding a torch, leading the way For time and time again I have come to realize In comfort, and in pain Karma rules, again and again! Fearless, you might be Carving your own destiny Having the power to think Flaunting the courage to act Chances hold the key You say, to your gain and loss Think again and you'll find Fate and deeds go hand in hand For time and time again I have come to realize In comfort, and in pain Karma rules, again and again! It starts with a seed of thought With the power and right to ask The path of right and wrong Is open for you to walk Your fate shapes your destiny Your deeds seal your fate In this game of cat and mouse Wishing to sin or not is your only choice For time and time again I have come to realize In comfort, and in pain Karma rules, again and again!

I am become Death

When Arjuna refused to fight in Kurukshetra, Lord Krishna started preaching him about the absolute truth and assumed his 'vishwaroopa' form. Then he said "I am terrible time, the destroyer of all (demoniac) beings in all worlds, engaged to destroy all beings in this world; of those heroic soldiers presently situated in the opposing army. Even without you, none will be spared." (translated version, ref: Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 11, Verse 32 ) The verse above was quoted by J. Robert Oppenheimer as "Now I am Become Death, the destroyer of worlds" . In my lyrics below, I have used the phrase I am become Death in a different context. I have made an attempt to portray the abusive/destructive nature of human beings. Read on... Heavens stare down at me Oh, what have I done! I was curious, I was selfish I was obsessed, I was restless In the name of glory, in the name of wealth To fuel my greed, (and) to protect my faith For lasting honor and a blissful life I begot ...

Mercury

Music gets different emotional response out of different individuals. Hence the feeling of 'good', 'sad', 'energy', 'melancholy', 'optimism' etc is entirely relative. In this theme, I have made an effort to capture such emotions through my music. Hope you like it! The idea behind this theme is to capture and render different ups and downs of one's emotions musically. The theme starts off with melancholy, then there is a bit of aggression and energy when the 'Marcato' section steps in around 01:02. The theme then progresses to calmness and optimism around 00:02:15 before finally concluding in optimism and passion from 02:46 through the end. PS: Please bear with the audio quality since I am not a professional sound engineer. I am an amateur when it comes to mastering/mixing techniques. Please leave a comment, share this with your friends and post the link on your Facebook profile if you like this theme. Thanks!
